a sustainable future.
What does Groep Peeters do for a sustainable future?
grow together sustainably
At Group Peeters, we see sustainability not only as a responsibility but as an opportunity to create positive change. We strive for a greener future by formulating clear and measurable goals that reduce our ecological footprint and actively contribute to a better society. Read more in our policy statement(NL).
By making conscious choices every day and collaborating with partners who share our vision, we make a difference—for today and tomorrow.
Through periodic reviews by Ecovadis, we ensure an objective evaluation of the structural progress Group Peeters is making in the areas of sustainability and greening. Thanks to their feedback, we can achieve targeted, continuous improvement in our performance in the areas of the environment, social responsibility, and ethical entrepreneurship.
We recently achieved our gold medal for this from Ecovadis with a score of 80 out of 100 (top 5%), and we are grateful for this recognition.
What we are proud of...
Our material sustainability goals in action
Climate action (13): We are approaching the sustainability of our core activities from various angles, with our replacement and investment policies aligned accordingly:
- Pilot projects for more eco-efficient working methods, preferably in collaboration with customers Greening peripheral equipment (pumps, generators, etc.)
- Swiitching from diesel-powered (operational) rolling stock and equipment to alternative or dual-fuel vehicles
Good health and well-being: We ensure the physical and psychological safety of our Cleannovators, including by fully committing to further automating and robotizing our core activities and modernizing our infrastructure.
Decent work, development opportunities, and economic growth: As an employer of more than 1,000 Cleannovators, decent work, economic growth, and subsequent quality training are essential. A reliable and safe work environment where employees can optimally utilize their talents forms the foundation for sustainable continuity.
Through our Cleannovator Academy, we offer employees ample opportunities to develop and grow alongside the ambitions of our organization.
Affordable and sustainable energy: We aim to make our passenger car fleet completely emission-free by 2035. Therefore, we are investing in charging stations and solar panels to ensure sustainability and self-sufficiency. When investing in infrastructure, we actively seek out sustainable technologies and materials.
Clean water and sanitation: Water management is a key focus, as our cleaning activities often require significant amounts of water. We make conscious choices regarding cleaning techniques, increased collection and reuse of (rain)water, and wastewater treatment, and where possible, we utilize alternative, waste-free, waterless cleaning techniques such as laser, dry ice, and ultrasonic cleaning.
Partnerships to achieve goals: We are committed to filling our supply chain with economically and ecologically responsible products and services from suppliers who set the sustainability bar at least as high as we do. For example, we have developed a sustainability charter(NL) that sets clear guidelines and expectations for our partners, so we can jointly achieve a positive impact on both the environment and society.
In addition to suppliers, contractors also play a crucial role in achieving our sustainability ambitions. Therefore, they are subject to specific commitments and quality requirements, laid out in, among other things, the VGH plan, the General Regulations, and our Code of Conduct.
By collaborating with specialized sector organizations, knowledge institutions, and civil society players, we strengthen our expertise and accelerate our sustainable transition. These partners not only help us move forward in terms of innovation and regulations but also ensure knowledge sharing and joint action.
Governance: in capable hands. .
To guide and coordinate our sustainability efforts, a steering committee (Steerco) was established, consisting of several leaders from various fields.
This eight-person team focuses on achieving the key focus areas of our sustainability strategy. The Steerco reports to the CEO of Group Peeters, and one Steerco member also sits on the Management Team alongside the CEO. Each focus area represents a vital part of our approach to achieving sustainable progress.
Through close collaboration within the Steerco and the numerous initiatives spread throughout our organization, we ensure that sustainability goals are translated into concrete, measurable results.
Awareness as the Key to Sustainability
Awareness is an essential part of a successful sustainability strategy. It increases employee motivation and engagement, makes them aware of their role in the process, and contributes to a positive company culture and high-quality service. At Group Peeters, we consider this a shared responsibility shared by everyone on our team.
Under the name CleanWise, we have developed creative learning modules that promote sustainability within the company in a playful and interactive way. EVA, which stands for Environment Vitality and Awareness, also plays a crucial role. EVA symbolizes our commitment to a more sustainable and environmentally friendly business model. She inspires and motivates employees with her enthusiasm, making sustainability tangible and accessible to everyone.
